A Bit About Me
As the current Director of Marketing at First Things, I’m serving as the organization's inaugural internal marketing leader, having pitched and secured a $400K annual budget to consolidate a previously fragmented marketing function and I now lead a team of 12 vendor contracts across marketing, creative, technology, and customer service. I identified our primary churn risk window and am leading the development of lifecycle retention campaigns to address it. Additionally, I’ve executed a top-of-funnel growth campaign that drove 7.5% subscriber growth in under 24 hours.
Prior to this role, I served as Senior Marketing Operations Manager at the Augustine Institute, where I managed a $2M annual marketing budget, led 7 external vendors, and generated $750K+ in annual cost savings by renegotiating vendor contracts and reallocating spend to higher-ROI partners. I built standardized marketing operations infrastructure — SOPs, workflows, naming conventions, and tracking frameworks — that improved execution consistency across departments. Earlier in my career, as Senior Product Marketing Manager, I drove 12.5% YoY revenue growth against a $1.4M target through strategic marketing campaigns and helped maintain a monthly giving society to 15,000+ active members with 90% retention while also crafting a campaign which lead to two of the highest consecutive recurring monthly revenue months in the giving society’s history.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a passion for operational leadership, financial governance, and data-driven decision-making. Whether managing vendor relationships, developing budget frameworks, or building marketing infrastructure from scratch, I am committed to driving measurable, sustainable results. My earlier experience as a national media and television host in Belize has further refined my communication skills, adaptability, and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
I am eager to bring my operational leadership and strategic marketing expertise to your company and contribute to the continued success. I welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my experience can add value to your team.

Managed Kaitlyn directly
Augustine Institute
Kaitlyn is a huge asset and one of the most competent employees I've ever managed.
She dealt with a vast range of personalities and ever-changing responsibilities—in-person and remotely. And in every instance, she performed with precision. No excuses and no complaints. She performed regardless of the length or project, attitudes in the room, or resources available. With such abilities, I think of her as both a champion sprinter and marathoner.
With humility in her spirit and a smile on her face, her intelligence, creativity, determination, and relationship-building skills set her apart and assure me that she has a robust career ahead of her.

Managed Kaitlyn directly
Augustine Institute
Kaitlyn is genuinely the hardest-working person I know. She has a lethal “go get ’em” mentality that consistently sets her apart from her peers.
If you ever have the privilege of managing Kaitlyn, know this: give her your trust and she will not fail you. Empower her from day one, and you’ll gain a loyal right hand -- scrappy, relentless, and deeply effective.
I have never encountered a more hungry executive in my career, and I’m honored to call her a friend, a colleague, and a former employee.
Clare Fusselman
Was senior to Clare and helped manage her workload directly
Augustine Institute
Kaitlyn is truly one of the most dependable and thoughtful teammates I’ve ever worked with. I worked alongside her for over two years, and during that time I got to watch her grow into a thoughtful leader who made a real difference in how our team functioned day to day.
One of Kaitlyn’s biggest contributions to our team was her ownership of vendor and budget management. She managed a lot of moving pieces with care and clarity and made a noticeable difference in how efficiently the team operated.
We also worked closely together on the operations side of the team during a season of transition. Kaitlyn helped set a stronger direction for how we worked together. She brought stability and focus that kept things moving forward and consistently championed the people around her. I learned a great deal from working with her and absolutely grew both as a leader and a marketer because of it.
Kaitlyn is smart, empathetic, incredibly hardworking, and someone I’d choose to work with again in a heartbeat.

I would strongly recommend Kaitlyn Betancourt for a director-level role in marketing. After working closely alongside Kaitlyn for two years at a partnering organization, several qualities stand out and set Kaitlyn apart from others I have worked with over the last ten years of my career in business, including my time spent at Amazon.com and Chewy.com. These qualities include, but are not limited to, Kaitlyn’s strong organizational skills, effective communication skills, and strong ability to prioritize.
The first of these, and perhaps the most apparent differentiator that sets Kaitlyn apart, is her incredible ability to stay organized and maintain close attention to detail. Even during chaotic times within her business, Kaitlyn never loses sight of her goals and can effectively manage multiple convoluted steps of a project from beginning to end. She keeps track of all steps and their statuses, and ensures that deliverables are completed on time with an attention to detail that is unmatched.
Flowing from this are Kaitlyn’s robust communication skills. Kaitlyn takes the extra time and effort to over-communicate with her teammates and is unafraid to ask questions to ensure that steps in a project are moving forward and that all stakeholders have what they need. Working frequently with Kaitlyn gave me incredible peace of mind that, despite being at different organizations, she and I would never be caught on different pages. Kaitlyn is articulate and organized in her writing, and leaves no ambiguity in what is needed from her partners and what they need from her.
Finally, Kaitlyn functions at an astoundingly high level when multiple projects and priorities are competing for her attention. In situations where many others may struggle to “keep up” as business needs vie for attention, Kaitlyn thrives. She continuously reviews the needs of her business and what is most pressing to serve the greatest overall business need, and she rigorously prioritizes to determine what needs to be delivered today and what can wait until tomorrow (these can obviously change frequently in a dynamic business). I have never lacked confidence when working with Kaitlyn and relying on her support to complete important projects, knowing that her experience and keen instincts will propel the most important work forward rather than hinder it.
Needless to say, I could not feel more strongly that Kaitlyn Betancourt would be a strong asset to any business and in virtually any role. She is organized, pays close attention to detail, is a clear writer and communicator, functions well independently, is a strong project manager, and has a knack for rigorously prioritizing—thus creating clarity in environments that often drift toward chaos. Working with Kaitlyn was truly a gift and a blessing, and I have no doubt she will bring the same fire and joy to her next role.

Worked on the same team as Kaitlyn
Augustine Institute
There are many ways Kaitlyn is excellent at her job, but the unique joy of working with her is the dignity with which she does it. Strategizing, planning, and managing marketing campaigns while navigating complicated stakeholder relationships requires many nuanced skills. In the time we’ve worked together, I’ve been continually impressed by how she balances strategic vision with thoughtful execution.
Kaitlyn doesn’t just get the job done—she elevates the process, ensuring that every campaign is both effective and enriching for those involved. She regularly keeps an eye on the latest industry trends, identifies risks and opportunities that affect her line of business, and celebrates the distinct talents and achievements of her colleagues. It is her rare combination of skill, humility, and generosity that makes her an exceptional collaborator and a manager worth following.

Worked on the same team as Kaitlyn

I highly recommend Kaitlyn Betancourt for a director-level position, who has diligently served as a Senior Product Marketing Manager for the Augustine Institute for the last two years. Kaitlyn's sense of adaptability in the face of changes across the company, her dedication to advocating for her customers while considering the needs of her stakeholders, and her strong collaborative spirit within the team and across departments have made her a valuable asset to the marketing team and the company as a whole.
Kaitlyn, with a mission-driven mindset, stretches herself for the good of the company. After her first year at the Augustine Institute, the company reorganized its structure to introduce the product marketing manager role, which is positioned as the liaison between the product verticals and the marketing department. Originally hired as the social media specialist, Kaitlyn was tapped to take on two product verticals that were laced with historical tension with the marketing department over the years. Kaitlyn graciously stepped into the role to help. Her sense of adaptability should not go unnoticed.
After becoming a product marketing manager, Kaitlyn has managed those key relationships with executives, teams, and external partners, ensuring clear expectations and alignment across various initiatives for three product verticals at the Augustine Institute. Being a product marketing manager has meant advocating for those stakeholders while also defending the user experience of her customers and protecting the capacity of our small marketing team. To be a product marketing manager is to master relationship management, which involves clear communication and a strong sense of accountability. To these points, Kaitlyn has excellently performed.
Kaitlyn is a team player with a strong collaborative spirit. She never presents herself as the sole driver of a strategy (hence her ability to manage key relationships well) and always makes sure that all of her projects include all the necessary voices, not just her own. I’ve witnessed Kaitlyn on multiple calls where she voices her thoughts on strategies for her product verticals and decisions that need to be made, always making sure to step back afterward and invite others on the call to chime in.
Kaitlyn is truly an exceptional employee and is bound to make a positive impact on any environment she steps into. Please do not hesitate to reach out if any further information is needed regarding Kaitlyn.

Was Kaitlyn's stakeholder
Augustine Institute
I write to you today to enthusiastically recommend Kaitlyn Betancourt. I have had the privilege of working closely with Kaitlyn during her time as my marketing contact and Product Marketing Manager at the Augustine Institute, and I can confidently attest to their exceptional qualities as a diligent, strategic, and communicative collaborator.
Kaitlyn is a true partner in working toward our department’s goals and demonstrates an unparalleled level of diligence in every task she takes on. Whether meeting tight deadlines, managing complex projects, or balancing multiple priorities, Kaitlyn’s attention to detail and tireless work ethic deliver consistently outstanding results. For example, her commitment to great outcomes month after month has helped build trust among members of our monthly giving society. Her work to create a brand, voice, and regular messaging has introduced a high standard of quality that has increased value for our stakeholders. Kaitlyn works tirelessly to exceed expectations and achieves results with precision and excellence.
In addition, Kaitlyn exhibits remarkable strategic thinking. She possesses a keen ability to analyze challenges, anticipate potential obstacles, and develop innovative solutions. Kaitlyn has often impressed me with her ability to make thoughtful, data-driven decisions that positively impact outcomes, such as when I requested adjustments in the midst of a recent marketing campaign through increased audience engagement and additional email messaging. Kaitlyn was quick to investigate our audience segments and determine success feasibility through past performance. By evaluating data and creating projections, Kaitlyn’s recommendations and detailed plan delivered results, essential to our campaign’s success and fiscal year goals.
Finally, Kaitlyn is an exceptional communicator. She excels not only in articulating ideas clearly and effectively but also in fostering collaboration within teams. Her ability to actively listen, empathize, and adapt her communication style to suit diverse audiences makes her a valuable asset in any setting. I recall a time when Kaitlyn led a complex fiscal year planning discussion among our team members and worked to ensure team alignment and success. Kaitlyn navigated a multitude of factors, including ideation, strategy, team roles, financial considerations, and much more, with masterful leadership and steered the team to a clear, concise path to success.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Kaitlyn Betancourt for a role at your company without reservation. Her combination of diligence, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills creates a rare and valuable candidate who will undoubtedly contribute to the success of your team.

Kaitlyn is a great teammate and collaborator. She is patient, approachable, an effective communicator, and puts in extra time to ensure her team is successful.
I thoroughly enjoy working with her. Kaitlyn is also a strategic and analytical thinker, and she has the ability to lean into data-driven decisions.
